Online Credit Card Usage

With the fast growth of the internet, shopping has magically expanded from local malls to International online shopping. Opening your internet browser is now like opening the door to the world’s biggest shopping mall, and all without moving from your chair.
Selecting products by size, description and with detailed pictures has never been simpler! With Today’s techniques, purchasing online is equal to guarantees over the counters. Fancy a car? You can buy it online. Lunch? Buy it online. A gift for a friend in a far away city? Buy it online. The secret is the payment method, of which there are many. But the challenge that faces the novice buyer is, “what’s the safest way to do it?”
Today secure online payment methods are available, and in ways that can guarantee the safety of your payment.
1.       For Internet purchases, look for an unbroken key or lock at the bottom of your browser window. This tells you that your card details are being encrypted before being sent through internet. Also check if the website address begins with https// rather than http://
2.       Do not share confidential data like your card number or pin before verifying the party on the other end. Make sure that the Bank’s logo appears on the website.
3.       Always save a screen shot of your online payment receipt and keep it on file until you receive your purchase.
4.       With the help of your Bank, you can have  a prepaid card or an internet card, dedicated for the Online Shopping.
5.       It is safer to execute your payments online from your private secure computer rather than from a public one.
6.       Your Credit Card information is confidential and should not be shared with any other person to order online. You will have no control over what they purchase.
7.       Your Credit Card details should not be sent by email. And never believe any email from a third party that asks you to submit your credit card or bank details to verify a purchase. Everything must pass through a verifiable payment portal.
8.       Always check your bank statements and check that the amounts charged on your card are the same as the amount that you have paid.
9.       When you shop online, only use secured sites that clearly state “Verified by Visa” or “MasterCard Secure Code”

10.   Make sure you activate SMS card alerts for all your bank cards in order to be notified about any transaction on your personal mobile
11.   Immediately contact the Customer Service Centre whenever you encounter any suspicious activity.
12.   Finally, if it doesn’t look right, or feel right, don’t do it! Use your common sense and shop elsewhere. There is virtually always someone else that is selling what you are looking for that has a secure website!

Have a safe secured online shopping!
